Radio was friendly to rock instrumentals in the 70s and Frankenstein was one of the harder rocking singles. The synthesizer solo herein led to my lifelong fascination with the instrument. For the longest time, I thought Blackmore's guitar solos on Deep Purple's "Made In Japan" were actually Jon Lord playing synth.

Musicians magazines have had a rocky road dealing with computers and the internet. After years of compatibility and distribution problems, Guitar World is still stuck in its CD-ROM rut. Why they didn't at least switch to DVDs is still beyond me. Still, the various magazines' websites are coming up to speed.

These three articles go deep into explaining guitar amplifier electronics and speakers while maintaining a conceptual level for the layman at electronics. If you don't know the difference between a Jensen and JBL, then read these articles before you make any decisions about upgrades.
